terms of use.

1 · what recommit is

recommit is a personal record-keeping app. you write entries; it renders them as a history and computes durations from them. that is the whole service.

recommit is not medical, psychological, addiction or crisis care, and nothing in it is advice. if you are struggling with addiction, self-harm or a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or an emergency service in your country. an app that keeps a log is not a substitute for a person who can help.

2 · your account

you need an account to back up and sync your ledger. keep your password safe and keep access to the email address you signed up with — together they are how you get back in, and how your history is returned to a new phone. you must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13.

3 · your content is yours

everything you write remains yours. we claim no ownership and no licence to use it beyond storing the encrypted copy and returning it to you. we do not moderate, mine, publish, sell or train anything on your entries, and we will not start. your entries are encrypted on your device; we hold the key that unlocks them so your account can be restored — see the privacy policy for exactly what that means.

4 · acceptable use

• do not use recommit to break the law.
• do not attempt to breach, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
• do not resell or redistribute access to it.

5 · subscriptions

recommit is free to use, with everything essential included. an optional prosubscription widens the merged front page and adds personal analytics. purchases are handled by google play, billed to your store account, and renew automatically until cancelled — which you do in the store, not here. refunds follow google play's policy.

prices may change; you will always be told before a change affects you. your data never depends on a subscription — if you stop paying, nothing is deleted or truncated.

6 · availability

recommit is provided as-is. we work to keep it running but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. the app is built to work fully offline, so a backend outage should never stop you writing.

7 · liability

to the fullest extent the law allows, recommit is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data where you have lost access to your account and to the email address it was created with. nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

8 · ending it

you can delete your account at any time from within the app. we may suspend an account that breaches these terms. on deletion, your remote data is removed permanently.

9 · changes and law

we may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. these terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
